AX2550 Encoder Problem

We have recently added an Encoder module to our 2550 and the Roboteq unit seems to be working fine, but when we plug in the encoder, the Robotez display blanks out and all control is lost. When the encoder is unplugged everything resets and works again. The encoder is a US digital encoder and we have checked the wiring multiple times and haven't found a solution. Does anyone have any thoughts? We will continue to search and I will post if we find something, but for now we're stuck. Thanks!

<P style="MARGIN: 0px">The most logical explannation is that the encoder would draw too much current.

Thanks for the quick response. We checked the current draw at several places along the wire path and found a short at a connector. The encoder is reading now, so that's a start, but we haven't gotten the position controlmode working yet, so I may be posting again today! Thanks again.
