Problem with roborun software recognizing encoder module

13 years 7 months ago #15940463 by danielson04
We have an encoder module that we have installed and we are using a US Digital encoder. The encoder on its own works and is outputting a pulse train (verified using a scope), so we know that works. We are almost positive that we have the encoder hooked up correctly to the encoder module. However, the only feedback we are getting under the encoder tab in the roborun software is a value of -10 for the counter on each wheel. We ran into some previous problem while trying to update the encoder firmware using the roborun software (it blue screened the first time), after the first try, we tried manually loading the encoder firmware onto the roboteq with hyperterminal, and it appeared to work, but I'm not one hundred percent sure. We currently have controller firmware 1.7 as well.

Right now, in roborun, the encoder ID spot lists "not present". If anyone has any suggestions to get this to work or know what's wrong I would really appreciate an answer.

Thank you!
Dan

We are not receiving the initialization line from the encoder MCU. The controller MCU line appears and is immediately followed by raw data. We downloaded the RoboRun 1.9 beta software and tried to flash the encoder firmware using that and received the message "Error occurred while programming at line 1"

<P style="MARGIN: 0px">If the encoder prompt doesnt appear at all, the encoder MCU somehow is not coming to life so there is no way to even load new sofware in it.
