Issues Configuring AX3500

I have an AX3500 with controller software version 1.7b. When configuring it on a PC it will connect, but i get the message "Bad data recieved from controller. Some parameters may be wrong. Try again or reset the controller". I am using roboteq software rev 1.9d. The controller does the self test and i can see the RS232 data on the console. I can't load anything or save anything to the controller, it simply says "controller could not respond"

Could i get a copy of the 1.7 roboteq software? i can't find it anyway. Any ideas about fixing this problem?

Select the "Console" tab on roborun to see what data, if any is sent by the controller. If data looks correct, try clicking on the buttons for Entering RS232 mode.

Beware that the encoder firmware should never be updated unless a newer version is installed.

Looking at the serial data signals on a scope, it seems that it only sends data to the PC on a reset, but isn't responding to anything the PC sends to it. Could this be a baud rate problem from the PC? or should roborun take care of all that itself.

Is there any special codes that can be sent to the AX3500 from a terminal to test if the serial comm is ok?
