AX3500 powers off when encoders are connected

The subject says it all. Once in a while the board will stay on after I plug in the RJ45 jack, but about 95% of the time the board immediately loses power.

I\'ve checked the connections between my encoder wires and RJ45 wires several times, and I\'m quite sure they\'re connected correctly.

This sounds like the encoders are drawing too much current. Try measuring your encoder\'s consumption.

The controller will allow up to 100mA max draw.

Ah, found the cause. Two of the RJ45 wires had melted together, presumably when a connector was soldered onto them. They were melted couple inches away from the connection, so it wasn\'t obvious.
