Can't get HBL2350 to turn brushless motor using Roborun

I just wired up a HBL2350 to a brushless motor for the first time and am having troubles getting it to turn using Roborun. Currently I have the three motor phases and three hall effect sensors wired up. I left the encoders aside for now. RoboRun is connected and I can view the graph, but I am having issues running the motors. Is there anything special I have to do to enable them? Right now I am just moving the slider but that is not doing anything. On the upper part of the Run page, the only status light that is lit up is the Serial button. Should any of the other ones be lit?

First verify in roborun that you get the counter counting up and down as you turn the shaft by hand. Enable the hall counter in the chart. This will tell you that the hall sensors are seen.
Then try all 6 wiring combination of the 3 motor wires to the 3 controller outputs. Beware that it can happen that 2 wire combinations make the motor spin. One of the 2 is inefficient and wrong. The good one make the motor spin smoothly in both directions.
