AX1500 LEDs shut off

AX1500 LEDs shut off was created by Anonymous
We have an AX1500 motor controller. The controller was working fine at 36V in R/C Radio mode and then the LEDs on the board shut off. Upon further inspection, it appears the voltage regulator is getting hot and making a buzzing noise. Any ideas?

Max voltage for AX500 is two 12 Volt batteries in series so max 26 Volt. 36 Volt will damage the controller.
