VBL2360 U-phase dead?

VBL2360 U-phase dead? was created by johgum
I have just started to test my new VBL2360 controller and I think there is someting wrong with it. I suspect that the U-phase is dead on both channels.

I have confirmed that the hall sensor sequence is correct by putting an Arduino between the hall sensors and the controller. Also, the hall counter in Roborun+ counts booth up and down perfectly.

HallA 1 1 0 0 0 1
HallB 0 1 1 1 0 0
HallC 0 0 0 1 1 1

By applying a small amount of power to the motor I get the following output, following the sequence above:

U 0 0 0 0 0 0
V 0 + 0 0 - 0
W 0 - 0 0 + 0

With some help, the motor starts spinning but not very smooth since it's only driving on two out of six output sequences.

I have tried my hub mo
tor with an old ebike controller and it spins nicely in both directions.

Have I missed something or is the U-phase dead? Are there other ways of testing?

Have you tried switching the U wire on each motor?

Channel 1 UVW is White, Green, Blue.
Channel 2 UVW is Brown, Orange, Purple.
