MGS1600GY Firmware problem

8 years 3 months ago #29530698 by Stev93
Hello,
I have MGS1600GY sensor, for error i flashed the MGS1600 V1.1 Firmware, i found this Firmware in the Resources page of the MGS1600GY.
Now RoboMag found my MGS1600GY as MGS1600 and the configuration page load without the gyroscope function.
How can I restore the original Firmware of my MGS1600GY sensor?

If the sensor no longer gets recognized by the utility, then you'll have to make a serial connection(RS232) and not the USB to recover from it.

dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/support/s...update-or-in-general

Do you recall which firmware was last used?

The one on file that is used at time of manufacture is 8/22/13 which is the same as what is on the resources page.

Thanks,I don't remenber the original Firmware version, I tried to flash this Firmware "Magsensor-firmware-update-082213.dfu" via RS232 but i get an error:
"Checking device...error.
Programming completed message not detected."
My realy problem is that, afther flash this Firmware the RoboMag found my MGS1600GY as normal MGS1600 and I dont found Gyroscope configuration in Setup tab.

Ah. The error after programming is normal, it just means that the sensor did not completely lose power after doing the soft reset to get the sensor to send the ?fid query.

Regarding the firmware reading the sensor back as regular, this we will need to look into.

Please verify that the GY exists within the utility. Click on the work offline checkbox at the top. This will disconnect you from the sensor. Then click on the drop down box under it. It should say:

Missing
MGS1600
MGS1600GY

I looked at a unit in our stock and it comes with a newer firmware from 2014. I am looking to get that file so you can get this working again.

Here it is, for the USB update.

Okay, Thanks a lot, could you group Roboteq give me the original Firmware of MGS1600GY so i can try to restore the original situation.
in the download center i found only MGS1600 firmware and not MGS1600GY

Is firmware "Magsensor-firmware-update-082213.dfu" the same for MGS1600 and MGS1600GY?

The 2 are completely different. We do apologize for the issue as we are going to get this updated.

I just tested on my regular unit, and it reads as a regular after the update. The way it knows that it is a GY is based on the hardware it has installed.

Give it a shot and let us know if it fixes the problem.
