Restart loop Motor Controller MBL 1660 N

3 years 4 months ago - 3 years 4 months ago #29532880 by beamster
Dear,

Im using a Roboteq Motor Controller 1660N. Iwas programming the controller and put the CAN option on of the controller. Since then I didnt have any USB connection. Now I want to reset the controller with RS232. I was reading the controller and all I see in the console was "Starting...". So I tried to update the controller firmware of the device through RS232. But I does not work. It will do the steps and will show that it was succesfully, but it could not restart the controller.

In the attachment you can see a screenshot of the error. I hope you can help me with this issue. I need this controller to power an electro motor in a solar boat race this saturday. So it is urgent.

With kind regards,

Kevin

You cannot use CAN and USB at the same time with this controller.

To complete the firmware update you will need to switch off the power to the controller just briefly and then switch it on again when it gets to that step "Device Restarted", it should then continue through the next steps of the firmware.

Dear Blake,

Some extra information: the previous firmware which was uploaded to the controller was already the latest one.
Uploading an older version of the firmware might solve the issue?

Hello Methias,

Please attach a photo of the bar code sticker that is on the bottom of the motor controller's aluminum plate. I need to be sure of which hardware revision you have.

Hello Blake,

Unfortunately the sticker is vague and we're unable to read it. By opening the controller we found the version on the PCB (seems to be rev 2.0).

This is a very old hardware revision of this controller but it should still be compatible with the latest firmware release. Unfortunately I do not have one here in my lab to test. Please download and install TeamViewer and then contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
