MBL1xxx Firmware Update Problem

5 years 4 months ago #29533396 by anil
I have a MBL1330N Brushless DC Motor Controller. I am using Roboteq Motor Utility Software Rev. 1.8 10.27.17.

I want to update the firmware to the newest version which is MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v18d-010818.zbin

I have connected the driver to the computer via RS232 to USB cable.
- Roboteq's RX to RS232's TX
- Roboteq's TX to RS232's RX
- Roboteq's GND to RS232's GND

I have connected PwrCtrl and GND of roboteq to 24V 5A power source. This LED to overheating error read from the Status LED.
* Maybe this can be the cause of the errors?

I use the RoboRun+ software. In the "Console" tab I select "Update Controller Firmware via COM port..."

I used windows 10 and got this message:

Checking file: E:\roboteq\MBL1XXX-Overall-Firmware-Update-v18d-010818\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v18d-010818.zbin
Extracting: MBL1XXX-FIRMWARE-UPDATE-V18D-010818.BIN...Done.
Extracting: F3_MBL1XXX-FIRMWARE-UPDATE-V18D-010818.BIN...Done.

Searching for device...
Checking COM3...device found.

Controller found on COM3.
Resetting the controller...done.
Waiting for device restart...error.
Device starting string not detected.

I used windows 7 and got this message:

Checking file: D:\roboteq\MBL1XXX-Overall-Firmware-Update-v18d-010818\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v18d-010818.zbin
Frimware zbin file should contain one F3 firmware file and one older firmware file.

Thank you in advance for your kind responses :)

I'm not exactly sure you mentioned what your issue was in this post. It looks like you are having trouble uploading new firmware over serial communication. Some more information about what you are trying to do would be greatly appreciated.

For now, if you wish to try to use a workaround, I would recommend trying to update the firmware over USB.

Exact problem is I cannot upload the new firmware.

I have already tried to upload the firmware over USB, it was even worse. Controller is not recognized via USB.
