We have been working on an internet rover type design using the AX3500 and have two problems. First it seems that if the joystick becomes disconnected the motor controller runs the motors at full (this seems to happen if we lose communications sometimes too).

Second we are using a logitech joystick to control the robot and it seems that the default roborun has the axes mixed up, I have tried the version configured for the Saitek controller and the one with negchan1 version seems to be better but the left and right turn are reversed. It is a USB Joystick.

I assume that you are using the roborun + roboserver setup.

Try enabling the watchdog on the controller. This way, if no data has been received for over a second, the controller will stop the motors.

Regarding the joystick, we've had another user reporting that the commands where inverted on the joystick. We will update the roborun software to allow to configure various combinations of joystick commands. For now, we will send you the modified version of the program that had the commands corrected for his joystick. Hopefully, it will work for you.

Thanks Cosma,

We are using the roborun/roboserver setup. I do have the watchdog enabled, the problem is that when I disconnect the joystick it sends full -127 signal to both channels.
