Backward Joystick

Backward Joystick was created by Esteimle
I have set up the controller as stated in the help file to run my vehicle remotely using roboserver and a joystick. However the directions are flopped. To go straight I have to turn right. backwards = left ect. I have tried both mixed and separate modes. This has to be easier to fix than I am making it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

Eric,

This sounds pretty odd. There was a bug in an earlier version of Roborun (v1.3) that had forward/reverse inverted, but never the left/right exchanged with forward/reverse/

Please do the following tests and report:

- In the Control Panel>Game Controllers, verify that the channels are not read backwards by Window (You can see this in the troubleshooting or calibration section)

- As you move the joystick verify that forward/reverse motion moves the cursor for channel 1 on Roborun, and that left/right moves cursor for channel 2.

- Report your joystick type (USB or analog) and Roborun version number.

Thanks

USB Joystick, The same results with different sticks.

Control panel = joystick checks out fine.

In roborun v1.5, forward reverse on the stick moves command 1 and left right command 2.

I double checked with R/C mode and forward gives reverse.

Should I reinstall firmware?

There should be no need to reinstall the firmware. I am wondering whether there could be a motor polarity problem:

Move the joystick forward only. According to your description, in mixed mode, one motor is moving forward, the other reversed. Swap the polarity on the one that is going reverse so that the go both forward. Then move the stick left/right to verify that you get the robot to turn.

That was one of the first things I checked, However it WAS a polarity problem. :)
