COM port greater than 8 was created by mafb
Hi,
I've just installed a USB/Serial adapter and Windows gave it COM10/11/12 depending on the USB port I use. My problem is that in Roborun I can only select COM1~8. How can I use this adapter with Roborun?
Btw, the PC is running Windows Vista.
Cheers,
Marco

There is unfortunately nothing that can be done about it in the current version of Roborun. I suggest that you research the Windows forum to see if there is a way to assign a lower port number to your USB adapter.

In fact it is explained here for Windows 2k: support.microsoft.com/kb/232673
In Windows Vista it is almost identical, except that there is a "change settings" button that needs to be pressed in order to authenticate as admin and be able to change the port's settings.
Thanks anyway,
Cheers,
Marco

I believe in Windows 7, the interface is similar to that of Windows Vista since that is what it was modeled after. If you go to start, control panels, hardware and sound, and then device manager, you should be able to see your comport for your adapter. Once you find that, if you go into the properties, and then under Port settings tab; advance, you should be able to change the port number that it uses.In fact it is explained here for Windows 2k: support.microsoft.com/kb/232673
