Sampling rate using API

I am using the HDC2450 on usb with the c++ api. We are developing using Visual C++ 2005 on MFC.

I implement a timer with a sampling time of 10ms for my sensor and i realize that sampling time drops to close to 300ms when i insert the \"SetComamnd\" function. What is the cause of this reduction? Could it be reduced to something like 100ms?
