Roborun+ v 1.2 -- 8/26/2014 build has an problem

8 years 11 months ago #29529759 by LROBBINS
I recently downloaded and installed the last release of Roborun + (same version number, but newer build date). It now, as promised, recognizes _CF even if operating offline. However, it does not let me load a profile from disc, but tells me:

Unable to load profile.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Moreover, when it downloads a profile from my HDC2450 it loses the labeling of the pins.

I have removed and reinstalled it with the same result, but I have not tried a fresh download to see if the MSI was somehow corrupted. In case it matters, the OS is Win7-x64 pro. For now I've just re-installed the previous build which works fine except for not recognizing some enumerations when offline.

The problem that you are experiencing is due to the fact that at aleast one or more new features have been implemented into the new version of roborun+.

Therefore there is a difference in the xml files so that they no longer match. If you load a controllers configuration in the new roborun+, and save the profile, then the problem no longer occurs since the xml file data should reflect the new changes.

Thanks. That does indeed take care of the problem, though it's not exactly a "user friendly" procedure especially in my situation where I am working on my own (multi-node CANbus) system here in Italy and helping friends in the UK and US with scripting their quite different systems. For each profile that I want to convert I have to:

(1) uninstall the new Roborun build and re-install the old one.
(2) retrieve the profile from disk and download it to the controller
(3) install the new version of Roborun
(4) upload the profile from the controller and save it with the new XML format

This would be less cumbersome if it were possible to have both the older and newer versions of Roborun simultaneously installed, or if you provided a conversion program that took the old XML file as input and then outputed the new one.
