2 BATTERY INSTALL

I will be using two batteries with the ax2550, 1 for the drive motors and 1 for the controller as per the recommendations in the manual for the ax2550.
In the wiring diagram the two batteries are connected by the ground terminals and all black wires coming off of the ax2550 are routed into the battery which drives the motors, lets call it battery 1.
Is there any reason why the controller's black/yellow wires can not be connected to battery 2, and the motor drive motors connected to the other battery, with no physical link between the two batteries?
The question stems from the setup of hardware within the application.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That will be OK. Keep in mind, however, that the two batterie's ground pins will be connected to each other through the controller since all black wires (thin and thick) are connected to each other inside the controller.

Thank you for the reply.
What type of currents should I expect to draw for the controller portion of the ax2550?

It can be up to 200 mA at 12V, about half at 24V, and lower yet at higher voltage.
Note that if the voltage on the motor battery is higher than the one on for the controller battery, the current will come from the motor battery.
