Hi, I need to know when choosing the right controller for my motors, i need to consider which current rating: stall or normal current?

usually stall currents are very high (133 A, in my case) while normal current is less low (60 A). so what is the best option for a controller.

Are they brushed or brushless motors?

it is brushed

The controller has current limiting so even in a stall condition, it will not give more to the motor than the current limit value.

These numbers are just gestimations. The real values very much depend in the usage condition, ambient temperature, etc... dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/applicati...th-about-amps-rating

I also forgot to ask, a single channel or dual channel?

it is double channel but it is ok to consider two controllers.

considering practical applications like a wheelchair and the possible motor options in the market one will find that motors will require giant controllers but just looking at the stall currents.

my perception is that getting the motor rotating from idle takes sub second time-frame and hence continuous normal load current at either motor max power or motor max efficiency are the most important factors here.

We would recommend the HDC2450 controller. Dual channel, 150A Max per channel, and a continuous of up to 80A per channel.

There are many out there that do have a wheel chair like application.

Perhaps you can send us a datasheet of the motor(s) you are looking to use.

Thanks for the datasheet. It looks like the HDC2450 or the vdc2450 meets the criteria you are looking for. Unfortunately all the other controllers in the dual channel brushed do not meet the specifications required for your application.
