Wiring Help was created by glomagno@hotmail.com
Im trying to figure out how to wire these controllers. Im not the best at wiring so bare with me. What i want to do is make sure the single channel 2160S is wired to the motors correctly and i would also like to know if anyone has any brilliant ideas to connect an E-stop that will halt all controllers. What would i need to add to my schematic? Thank you!

You mean something similar to the one described in the usermanual for a single controller, but to the extent of all controllers?

Yes exactly. I know with a regular E stop switch i could connect to pull down to ground but i would like to do this on all controllers at the same time. Was trying to look for E stops that have multiple poles on it but most i have seen is a dual circuit.

It sounds like you would have to use a relay system that has a DPDT, so that when the relay engages or disengages, that the contacts change over at the same time.

I found online an board with 8 DPDT relays. I could use an extra output from a power supply to energize the coils wired to the E stop switch so when pushed in it pulls the NO to NC and ground out the Vmot. If i do this, will this cut the power completely out from the motor controller board if i dont have power going to the power control pins?

If you want to completely cut off power at the same time those relays take effect is to do the same to the power control and ground pins(with no battery attached on the power control line). The power control when shorted to ground, will cause the controller to turn off. In addition to having the vmot removed from the battery to then short to ground, will allow the controller to discharge the capacitors.
You'll want to check the relays to make sure that they are timed together in sequence so that they are all in sync with each other. Some relays will have a quick change over when energized or de-energized, others are slower.

Im not too concerned in the response time of the relays as long as it grounds it out with in a second. Some plcs systems don't even respond that fast. So i found this relay board in ebay. Its an 8 channel

Thats the data sheet on the board. I understand all the connections and how i could ground out the board. What i don't get is the connection where it says IN-A. There is a IN-A through H. Not sure what is suppose to connect there or what that is an output for.

More than likely input A - H voltage. Judging by the schematic it drives the led's to flash.

One more question and then we can squash this. I rather not discharge the capacitors if its not necessary. I rather use the pwr control and ground pin plus that will simplify wiring. So is it needed? By not discharging does it allow for a quick recovery to the motors?

There won't be much of a change if you don't use it.
