I have checked our MBL1660 and get the following:
?UID
UID=100:1042:108068681:1414096210:-2028400315
Can you tell me what version (hopefully 4.2 or above) it is and whether is can support sinusoidal switching.

Yes with the SBL1360 you will be able to turn the motor using sinusoidal commutation with hall angle feedback, however it practical operation it will not work well or reliably. In order to have true sinusoidal control the controller must be capable of FOC which the current SBL1360 is not.
Additionally the hardware version of MBL1660 that you have does not have this capability
