ax2500 to control winch?

Anyone used a ax2500 to control a winch or windlass?
The process is going to be remote, so I need some feedback on the cable reel like a cable odometer or rotation sensor. Anyone have recommendations for such sensors?

We are aware of a couple user who have used the controller for similar application. Others may be on this forum.
The AX2550 will work fine. For odometry, you should order the controller with optical encoder input (AX2850) and mount an optical encoder on the motor shaft, or somwhere else in the gear assembly. We have seen good success reported with the usdigital products. <A href="www.usdigital.com" target=_blank>www.usdigital.com. This will give you extremely precise distance information.
