We would like to gather user comments on a new, low power, dual-channel controller design we plan to introduce this summer. You may preview the AX500 at dev.roboteq.com/dev1/ax0500-folder.htmldev.roboteq.com/dev1/ax0500-folder.htm" target=_blank>

This is a great idea especially if you can keep some of the best features of the high-end units. I can see using a series of these for robotic arms.

A great idea. Would these be able to be connected in series somehow in order to control even more motors?

I think it would be cool if there were a master CPU module and a daisy chain series of H-Bridge modules with a convenient type of connector (please no RJ-45 or that ilk...not very robust for rough environments, IMHO) so you could position the h-bridge modules at a distance from the master CPU. I'd also like to see the ability to gang several h-bridges together for high current applications. You'd have a DIP switch on each one so they'd be able to receive the same commands if they had the same address.
A USB interface would be nice because you could have a hub on the master module and neat clean control cables octopusing out to the h-bridges.

kinda like the phidgets offered at phidgetsusa.com. I would like to see roboteq esc's with usb interface to a master motherboard (VIA) and a single software package to control many esc's from that motherboard.

I like the idea of being able to daisy chain boards together, also it would be nice with the dip switches to be able to set their address for high current applications. A usb and serial version with a FTDI usb to serial chip sould be nice.
