Finding a controller

Hello
I need a controller for a project car our high school is working on. We are part of the DARPA Urban Challange and our steering controller burned out recently. I need a new controller for the car. We have tired rebuilding the old one but it wont work. I think the motor is some sort of brushless servo motor. It was made for EMC. EMC is a company that retrofits cars with handicap control. We would like to get a new controller ASAP if anyone has any advise. Thanks

What was it before all the smoke leaked out because AFAIK none of Roboteq's controllers work with brushless motors?

It was a custom built controller that someone made for us.
