Wiring 15pin D sub socket was created by hoarp001
Hi,
Im having afew confusions wiring the 15pin D sub plug for a roboteq controller.
On the actual plug on the board there are tiny stamped numbers, which I assume are the ones to work to, however diagrams such as this:
freespace.virgin.net/tom.baldwin/15d-pinout.gif
are confusing as they are the other way round?
I have had no luck using this board so far, so maybe this is my problem...
Thanks.

Pin assignement on your diagram is backwards.
If you look closely the female connector on the board, you will see that the pin numbers are stamped on the plastic. It is hard to see but it is there.
With a voltmeter, verify that you have the +5V on pin 14 and 0V to pin 13. If you can see that, this will be a good sign that you got the numbering right. The 5V and ground must be wired to your pot.

Hi,
this is probably a stupid question, but I feel I must ask just incase...
The potentiometers arnt polarity sensitive are they, it dosnt matter which leg pin 14 and pin 5 connect to, aslong as the signal wire is in the middle?
Thanks.

Correct, except that you will have the motor going in one direction vs the other as you push the joystick forward.
If the motor direction is not the one that matches the joystick, you can either swap the 0-5V on the pot, or swap the motor wires.

I dont think im in any danger of the motors going in the wrong direction (or any direction).
Thanks.
