RS232 to TTL

RS232 to TTL was created by tkjol
I am trying to interface an AX500 to a PIC microcontroller. My problem is that the PIC does not have a built in RS232 driver. I do not want to design another PCB so, can I aquire the TTL signals from the AX500 to interface directly with the PIC? I have done this before with a touchscreen for the same reason, and I am hoping I can also do it in this application.

T Kjol
IDS
Houston, TX
Our controllers input will accept TTL levels. In the controller to PIC direction, you should put a resitor (5 to 10K will work) so that the level is clamped by the PIC's input diodes to 0V-5V.

The only thing to worry about is that the levels will probably be inverted. I believe that the PIC will let you configre its RS232 I/O as direct or inverted.
