Smoked a controller today while performing a simple power up test. The controller is used to control 2 PM motors using encoder feedback in closed loop operation.
When I smoked the controller I didn\'t have the encoders attached.

What I need to know is is it possible to power up the controller without having the encoders in the circuit regardless of program\'s configuration?

Any help?
