I am using an HDC2450 to control two DC motors. I am controlling the motors with a Logitech Attack 3 gaming joystick:

I currently have the joystick connected to my PC through a USB port. I have my computer connected to the USB port of the HDC2450 motor controller. I am able to control both motors with the joystick through the Run tab of the Roborun+ software by clicking Enable joystick.
I would like to have the trigger button of the joystick act as a dead man switch (i.e. the trigger needs to be engaged to move the motors). Is there any way to do this within the Roborun software?

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. To implement, it would require modification to the PC utility so that the joystick buttons are read and their state be sent to the controller. The controller firmware would also need to be modified so that the controller would know what to do with this information.
We are looking at implementing this capability eventually if it required by many users.

Thanks for your response. For the time being, we will look at having a button separate from the joystick to be used as the dead man switch, and wire it directly into the motor controller. However, using the joystick buttons to send digital input commands to the controller is a feature that would be very convenient for our company.
