Documentation of recent changes ??????

7 years 2 months ago #29528242 by LROBBINS
Reading through the firmware change log, I noted:
v1.2 11/27/2012
- Added 16-message buffer in RawCAN
- 12K Microbasic scripting Flash on HDC/HBL
- fixe 29-bit CAN identifier bug
- Added Microbasic variable inspections

These look to be extremely valuable changes, but there is no documentation in the current user manual. Can you supply some? Particularly for the CAN message buffer and extended CAN IDs.

Thanks,
Lenny

Looking a little further down the change log, I noticed a couple other items that I\'m curious about:

v1.2 03/29/2012
- Added user nonvolatile storage using EE config and EES command

Though both _EE and _EES are in Constants.h, the user manual only describes _EES. I am wondering whether user-measured values (such as battery amp hours) can be stored in EEPROM or just configuration settings.

v1.2 12/28/2011
- Added Read/Write to battery backed up RAM

I haven\'t found any mention of this in the user manual.

The documentation is in the process of getting an update.

As far as I am aware, you can\'t store values such as controller readings i.e battery voltage, motor amps and things like that in the eeprom.

The eeprom is for the configuration changes.

Edit:

Upon investigation of this issue, here is what was found.

there is space in the eeprom that users can use to store anything they wish. It is used with the ~ee and ^ee. The stored variable as signed 16-bit. There are 32 variables available.

This will all be explained in the next release of the user manual.

Good. I look forward to seeing the new manual. The more detail about the CAN implementation (all 3 \"flavors\") the better.
