What is the fastest possible data sample rate?

I am using the SDC2130 motor controller

Right now I'm using standard serial communication with MATLAB. I write a query (encoder count), and read a response. I can do this about 60 times per second. Ideally, I would really like to do closer to 200 times per second. Is this controller capable of that? By any means, not just MATLAB.
