I have a MLB1660 that is having an issue with its configuration. I tried loading firmware v1.3 3/11/2014 over the serial link and it will go through the process and gets all the check marks except "New Firmware Restarted". The log window shows:
Checking file: C:\Users\bg\Desktop\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v13-031114\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v13-031114.bin

Starting YMODEM Send...
Opening file C:\Users\bg\Desktop\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v13-031114\MBL1XXX-Firmware-Update-v13-031114.bin
File size: 80,188 bytes.
XYM 3.2.0 (1)
81 packets transfered.
Checking device...programming completed.
Checking firmware...error.
New firmware message not detected.
After this, Roborun+ is not able to communicate via the serial link, but the USB link does work. The fault flag "config" is active and the motor will be going through the routine as if you jumpered pins 2&3 on the 15-pin connector. After a short time the controller will lose its connection. Trying to change configurations, like activating an analog input will cause the controller to be lost. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Sounds like the controller went into self test mode. This is what occurs when the RS232 pins, Pins 2 and 3 get shorted prior to powering on.
If you are able to, try reflashing the controller through the USB.

After selecting to update controller firmware via USB, the DFU loader immediately "Stops working" and would never allow an update. I'm running windows 7 x64

So try the following. Unplug everything from the controller except power to the controller, and just the RS232 connection, and make it the RS232 is not shorted.
Go to update firmware via comport.
Select on the top left, manually assign comport. Load the firmware file. Click program.
The first run through should report back a popup saying "error, see log for details".
Click ok, and then click program again. It should properly flash at that point.

I still receive the same error log message. When programming, the device does not restart itself, I have to turn the supply on/off for it to get past that step. After trying to program, Roborun+ does not detect the controller over the serial link as well.

I've already sent you this firmware by email. So this post and link is for all who will have this problem that have bought a recent MBL1660 controller PCB rev 3.0.
This firmware fix addresses the issues related to scripting while the motor is running.
