Is the controller detectable by the laptop without poer supply

Is the controller detectable by the laptop without poer supply was created by venuvv1
I had just brought a MDC 2460 as part of my research. I tried to connect it to the laptop just for checking the interfaces with out connecting the power. The computer not detecting it. It means only after power connection it will detected by computer ?? I tried both USB & RS 232 connections.

The controller must be powered up before any type of communication can be made. The USB and RS232 do not provide any power to the controller.
