With the controller powered on and connected via usb, what does the status light light flash sequence look like? the power on should be a rapid blink, and then it should go into an idle mode blink similar to a 1 Hz signal flashing.

I tried turning the controller off and back on at the restart stage of the update but it still waited for restart before timing out.

And when connected via USB, my only indication that the controller is on is the power led. There is nothing being emitted by the USB or status leds.

The controller was purchased in late November but this is the first we've worked with it since unboxing.
