The USB is not serial comport, therefore you cannot update the controller via comport. You update via USB.

Considering the problem is that the computer lists this as unknown device, you need to first power on the controller and then connect the USB. The USB does not provide power to the controller.

If the drivers do not install, then it is one of 3 things.

A. Windows 10 - not supported
B - Windows 8 or 8.1. See link below for instructions and drivers.
dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/support/downloads

C: Your device manager needs to be opened up so you can update the drivers for the unknown device.

The controller is expected to get lost when in dfu mode. It will install a different driver called the STM32 driver. Check your device manager if it installed or not. If it is listed with a yellow icon, then click open it up and see about updating the driver.

if someone has the same problem the answer is to download the stm32 driver and then try to update the controller. if the problem continuous unplug the controller and replug while it is in the dfu mode and open the device manager, update the stm32 driver that uppears with yellow warning this the one that is in the roboteq directory folder

big thanks to techsupport
