FBL2360 TTL Serial or RS485 was created by ottovk
I am having difficulty communicating with an FBL2360 via 3.3V TTL Serial from a microcontroller.
My current connections are from:
TTL Tx (microchip) -> Pin 11 (TTL RxD)
TTL Rx (microchip) <- Pin 23 (TTL TxD)
Gnd (microchip) <-> Pin 1 (Gnd)
In other configurations, I can communicate successfully via USB and via RS232 (pins 2,3,5).
My unit is v2.3 and I have firmware version 1.6 installed (4/14/2016).
I have tried typing ^SCRO 3 from the terminal as sugested in ( dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/support/f...ication?limitstart=0 ), with no effect. Also, if I type ~SCRO, the unit returns SCRO=2
I have tried setting the baud rate to be inverted as described in ( dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/support/s...onnecting-to-arduino ), but when I try to set it to 5 using ^RSBR 5, then read it back with ~RSBR, it reports RSBR=4. The same thing happens if I use ^RSBR 9
I have a number of questions:
1) Does the FBL2360 support TTL Serial, or is it RS485? The datasheet mentions 485 support, but then calls out TTL in Table 3. Also, the datasheet calls out pins 11/23 as TTL, whereas Roborun calls them out as RS485A and RS485B respectively. Is this a configuration setting somewhere?
2) Is there another piece of documentation that I'm missing that highlights additional serial commands? For example, RSBR and SCRO are referenced in the forums, but I can't find them in "Advanced Digital Motor Controllers User Manual".
3) I guess, generically, what am I doing wrong?

The FBL2360 does not currently support direct TTL communication to pins 11 and 23. You will need to follow the wiring instructions in the FAQ post you referenced (dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/support/s...onnecting-to-arduino). You will also need a firmware update in order to be able to change the RSBR. Please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Thanks, Blake!
Does it support RS485 connections to those pins? Would I need to send any commands to configure the device to use RS485?
Thanks,
BK

No it does not currently support RS485 communication to those pins. Those pins are reserved to add this ability in the near future but it is not quite ready.

Blake can you put that file on the forum please? I also plan to connect an Arduino-based microcontroller (Udoo-X86).
