Dear Roboteq Technical support,
First of all, I want to say we have been using your controllers, riox, magnetic tape sensors, etc with success an we are really pleased with them. Right now we are doing a project where we are not able to use magnetic tape or other form of line follower system, so we want to implement an alternative navigation system for this particular project.
So, i was wondering if you can recommend an alternative system. We can't use GPS because project is indoor and GPS signal isn't good. I know there are laser positioning systems for automated vehicles and I've seen wifi based positioning systems as well. I know project cost will be increased too because of these technologies are more expensive.
Can you recommend a particular system, brand?

Unfortunately we wont have much as far as alternative suggestions for you. Our expertise has been focused mostly on magnetic guided systems. I have, however, spoken to other customers that have used GPS, laser, wireless, and ultrasonic navigation systems with success. But I don't have details as far as what was used and how they did it.
The program-ability of our motor controllers make them quite robust. They are capable of communicating with other periferal devices via CAN or RS232 so remember to take that into consideration.
