I am using 2 HDC2450 controllers. I used a 1/2 W 120 ohm resistor to have them in RoboCAN mode. I opened the slave node and gave 2 as NodeID and asked it to listen to NodeID #1 and vice versa for the master node. Please see the attached zip file which has pics of configuration and console output for each of the nodes.
I thought the firmware version could be the issue. I tried to update the firmware of both but no luck. I tried to do "update via com port" but at the end it says " no start code found" and it says the controller is lost and i had to turn off and then turn on the controller.
What am i missing here? How do i solve this issue?

With the hardware revision of this controller that you have you cannot use USB and CAN at the same time. So, if you have the controller connected to your PC via USB, CAN will not work. You will either need to test without USB connected, or use an RS232 connection instead

How do i connect the tx and rx wires from the 25 pin port to my PC? Also, will it be recognized as a regular ACM0 device?

My laptop doesn't have DB9 female port. It only has a hdmi, usb's and vga and vga, hdmi don't have tx,rx. So can i just use a usb to rs232 cable like this (www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Converter-Prolif...-TU-S9/dp/B0007T27H8) and connect the tx/rx accordingly?

Yes you will need to use an RS232 - USB adapter such as the one you linked. You will need to use jumper wires from the 9 - 15 pin or you can use a
9 - 15 pin break out board

HDC2450 only has a 25 pin and a 9 pin. The 9 pin doesn't have the tx/rx so i'd have to use jumper cables between the 25pin port and 9 pin rs232 and also ground them together, right? I don't think i need the one you suggested.

Yes I am sorry I meant to write 25 pin, not 15 pin.
Correct you can use jumper wires, you will only need to jump Tx, Rx and Gnd between the controllers 25 pin and the adapters 9 pin.
