I'm using MGS1600GY sensor. While checking with the magnetic tape, if I keep it below the left extreme of the sensor, the left track value is around 60. While if I keep it below the other end, the value is around 90-100. This affects the steering of the robot during sharp right and sharp left curves, as the difference from neutral position is unequal. Any idea why its like this?

Hey, I looked into it, and this is actually correct behavior as the controller reports the sensed position of either the left track or the right track, which must be selected from the controller. I would recommend using whichever is greater than 0.
