I would like to connect the MDC2230 controller to my control board over the USB connector. My board is running Ubuntu 16.04. When I plug in the USB cable, I can see the device via lsusb but it doesn't show up as a serial USB device. What USB chip is used? Is there a Linux driver? Thanks.

We're surprised this is happening. Our USB is driven off a standard UART interface.
When the device is connected, what shows up in your /dev directory?

Turns out it is in the /dev directory. Shows up as /dev/ttyACM0. I was honestly expecting to see /dev/ttyUSB0 or something similar. Does it actually understand the ITU V.250 command set?

No, it should not be able to use ITU instructions. It is supposed to show up as ttyACM0 though..
