Firmeware v2.0 wheel base and robo mech

I've noticed in new RoboRun + with newer firmware there is now available
the "Robot Mech Characteristics" to choose wheel base, wheel diameter, distance to mag sensor, etc"

What are these configurations for?
I could not find any docs related to them.
