I did this last year. It sounds like you're using windows.
In order for your remote pc to "see" your USB connection, you need USB port server software (otherwise the commands are local) that way you can forward your local USB connection to the other PC and drive from the command computer. That's why you can use the RoboRun sliders, but not the joystick (--> there is no joystick on the computer attached to the ax****).
Hope this helps, sorry I forget the name of the USB server program, it was a kinda complicated setup.
