We are wanting to use an AX2550 controller in \"Closed Loop Speed\" mode to regulate speed over RS232. How do we go about setting a constant speed? Do we need to send commands to the motor controller, the controller and encoders, or just the encoders? We were assuming that a maximum RPM could be assigned and regulated through Roborun with time base setting and PPR of the encoder.
The encoders are incrementing with the proper direction, to the rotation we are expecting out of the motors.
Thanks in advance,
DWDY

All you need is to configure the controller in closed loop speed mode.
Then send a motor command as described in manual.
The max command value will make the motor go at the maximum speed determined by PPR and time base (assuming that the motor ca reach that speed at full voltage)

Thank you for your input and quick response! We figured out pretty quickly after our initial post that we were simply over thinking the whole operation. Sometimes to speed up a process, you just have to slow down.
Thanks again,
