Using AX2550 to control a full size automobile

I was reading your description on how a AX2550 could be used to control a full size automobile. I am interested in this concept and was wondering if you had any more detailed information. I was also wondering how one AX2550 could be used to control the brake/accelerator/steering/and transmission. It seems like more than 2 independent motors or actuators would be used to achieve complete control. It looks possible according to your description of the project though so I wanted to double check and see if it is in fact possible to control those various aspects using only one AX2550.

One AX2550 drives two motors so you will need as many controllers as the number of motors you need to drive divided by two.
Typically it is necessary to drive steering, throttle, brake and gear. In general steering is done by a large servo mounted on the steering shaft with a pot mounted coaxially for feedback.
Brake and gear normally are driven using linear actuators (also with pot feedback); the actuator pushes a rod that bolted to the pedal.
The gear is normally shifted using a mechanism that uses a contact closure to shift up or down, similar to the gear in a motorcycle. Our controllers all have an additional output capable of driving a relay coil.
