Debouncing on input to digital pins?

Hi,

I am trying to use a normally open, press to close, turn to reset switch to activate an estop or safety stop on my SDC2150. I am curious, the usual configuration requires either a pull-up or pull-down resistor depending whether it is set for active high, or active low. However, is there a need for a debouncing circuit for the input to prevent the controller from reading multiple presses?

Thank you very much.

THere is no need for debounce because it doesnt matter for emergency stop whether the switch bounced.

Once the first contact detected, the controller will enter emergency stop mode. If the contact goes of and one, the emergency stop will remain.
