Problem with serial comm between MDC2250 and microprocessor

Hello,

I\'ve tested the serial comm between the microprocessor and a PC, and between the MDC2250 and the PC (same settings).
They both work fine.
But when connected to each other, I don\'t get any response from the MDC (even on startup). I actually get a single gibrish character.

I used the cable supplied by Roboteq which has a female DB9 connector on the PC end.
My micro sits on a development board (Microchip\'s PICDEM NET 2) which also has a female DB9 connector.
So I soldered two male connectors with 3 wires. pin2->pin2,pin3->pin3,pin5->pin5.

It\'s driving me crazy!

Any idea what I\'m doing wrong?

Thanks

p.s. why can\'t I debug the MDC with the USB connection while it\'s rs232 mode?

try wiring pin 2 of controller to 3 of microprocessor and pin 3 to 2.

I thought about it too, but it made no sense to me.
I\'ll try it tomorrow.

Thanks
