Trouble Connecting to ax2550 controller with Roborun configuration software?

Hello, I'm trying to configure my ax2550 motor controller using Roborun software I downloaded online on windows 7. However, the software will not connect to the device. When I plug the device directly into my computer's serial port, and run Roborun, at the bottom of the window the software reads "found com1, com20," and then cycles through saying com1 and then com20 is closed over and over again. If I connect the device to a usb port via the pl2303 serial->usb converter, the software does the same thing, except that it cycles through saying com 1, 5, and 20 are closed (the device is connected to com 5, and appears to be working correctly otherwise, according to windows 7 device manager).
Any idea how I can get the device to connect to the software? There's clearly some communication going on, just not the kind required for me to configure the device.

Hi Lewis,
You are using the wrong software. That is Roborun+. You want Roborun.

Go to the bottom and look at the AX family controllers, Roborun.

Just so you are aware, this is now an obsolete product so we don't sell them anymore.
I've attached the usermanual here for you in case you don't have it.
As for the communication settings in the user manual, here is what you need to set it to.
9600 bits/s, 7-bit data, 1 Start bit, 1 Stop bit, Even Parity

okay, now I've downloaded the right software and set the settings as you suggested ( seven bits, no parity, etc.). However, I'm still encountering problems connecting to the controller. My software is having pretty much the same response as the screenshot pictured above, except that the port number is com 5 instead of com 3.
Any idea what's going wrong now?
Thanks

You have to tell the software to use com 5. Look to your right. It says "Change com/lan port".

I tried that as well (com1 by default). Still didn't connect (looked the same as above screenshot but com3 read com5).

You match up the com active that is lit in green at the top of the browser with the com port. If you look at my screenshot, both my port settings and the active port match.

Yeah, I'm doing that, but still apparently no connection. Here's a screenshot.

Can you take a look in your device manager and check com5? Upload a screenshot of that as well.
If you have a serial to USB cable, you can connect it with that.
