Hello,

I am trying to command a three phase dc brushless motor using the controller HBL1650. The problem is the motor is not rotating and the MOSFail light under the fault section is turned on the Roborun software interface. Can anyone tell me what does this means? I can't find any information in the manuel guide. Does this means that the controller is damaged?

Can you verify a few things. Is the hall sensor wiring connected? Also, is your controller up to date with the latest firmware?

In the console tab, you can send in this query to find out.

?FID

What is important in the answer is the date code it reports back. The latest is 11/21/14

Here is a link to the firmware and also a video tutorial on brushless controller setup.

I verified the Hall sensor wiring and it is good. But I wasn' able to upgrade the firmware. When I pressed the button "Update controller firmware via USB" in the Console page, a message saying "The controller will now restart in USB Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) mode" popup. I continue by pressing the "choose" button and right after I pressed the button another message popup saying "The controller has been lost".I continued clicking on the file in extension .dfu that I downloaded from the roboteq website and loaded it. And right after I pressed the button "upgrade", the problem came. Another message popup saying that the DFU loader has stop working and I had to quit. I tried for a few times but it always gave the same result. Every time it stops functioning, I had to quit the Roborun software, reconnect the USB and restart the power supply connected to the Vbat and ground of the controller before I can retry for the second time, third time ...

Is there a way to solve this?

This seems to be happening more and more often with the windows platform. Please download and install this dfu loader in the link below.

You will still need to go through the Roborun+ to put the controller into DFU mode by doing the update via USB.

dev.roboteq.com/dev1/index.php/forum/11-...-has-stopped-working

You will look for a program called DfuSeDemo.

C:/programfiles(x86)/STMicroelectronics/Software/DfuSe/Bin

the upper corner of that browser should say something along the lines of STm32 device in dfu mode. If that is there, proceed to the bottom right corner of browser, and browse for USB DFU file and then click upgrade.

Hello,

I still can't update the firmware even though I had downloaded the STMicorelectronics DfuSeDemo. After I had opened the DfuSeDemo v3.0.3 and uploaded the HBL16xx firmware .dfu file, the upgrade button doesn't show up. Can you help me please? I had attached a powerpoint file in this message that shows some print screen picture of the problem.

You selected the wrong area. It's not the upload section you open the firmware file. It is the choose button next to the upgrade button. Everything for the upgrade is done in the lower right hand area of that browser.

Also the top left corner drop box is empty, which tells me that the STM32 driver for the controller has not been installed. Go to device manager and see if anything shows up with a yellow icon next to it. It should be an STM32 device. If it doesn't show up anywhere, then do the following.

Take the normal steps of updating firmware via usb. After the controller disconnects itself from the Roborun, unplug usb from controller and plug back in. It should start installing the driver.

What version of windows are you using?

I am using Windows 7 professionnel service pack 1.

After I pressed the update firmware via usb button, the message 'the controller is lost' pops up. I did what you told me by unplugging the controller and plug back in but the driver doesn't start to install. The Roborun program doesn't detect the controller neither. I had to turn off the power supply, then turn it on again, followed by unpluging and repluging the Roboteq usb cable for the Roborun program to detect the controller again.

Can you help me out again please?

The problem then is that the PC did not install the dfu drivers. You'll need to look in the device manager and see if anything has a yellow icon next to it. Open up the selected listed item with yellow icon, and click on update drivers. It should be STM32 Device.

When I clicked on update driver, it proposes me two option : search the driver in the internet and search the driver in the computer. When I clicked on the first option 'search driver in the internet' it doesn't work. So i guess there is only the second option left but I don't know where to locate the driver in the computer. Can you help me out please?

The driver can be found in this directory when you click on "Browse" as the option to install.

C:/Program Files(x86)/Roboteq/Roborun Plus/DFu Drivers.

Once you open the dfu drivers, there will be 2 folders. Just click open, and the windows should automatically find the one it needs.
