hey guys - i've got a motor i'd like to drive w/ 300A at 72v and i'd love to use a roboteq controller.
of course, they don't have a controller spec'd to that.
maybe stupid question, but how bad do you think it would be to over drive a 72v controller rated for 240A (HDC2472S) and drive it to 300A for a few minutes at a time?
or take a 60v controller rated at 300A (XDC2460S) and drive it to 72v 300A for a few minutes at a time?
thoughts? ideas? experiences?
i haven't pinged roboteq to inquire about a custom controller that might solve my problem, but i thought i'd check w/ the forum here to see what kind of ideas people have.

Unfortunately neither of your suggestions would be recommended. The HDC2472S has a peak rating of 240A, that means it can withstand that high of current for 30-60 seconds max. Running 300A at a continuous rate (greater than 60 seconds) would likely cause damage to the controller.
Likewise the XDC2460S has a peak current rating of 300A, which is well and good for your current need however again that is the peak current rating (<60s), so running for longer would likely cause damage eventually. Despite that the XDC has an absolute max voltage of 65V. The controllers have an automatic voltage protection that kicks in to protect the controller that will not let you exceed the absolute max.
