MDC2230 with absolute encoder was created by Brogath
Hello,
For a project we are looking to modify existing vehicles to AGCs.
They contain a brushed traction motor suitable for a single channel on the MDC2230.
For steering we wanted to use a steering plate to rotate a fixed wheel.
But the data sheet only mentions A and B signals for the encoder.
We would like to use a absolute encoder so the controller knows at what angle the steering wheel is in without having to zero it somehow.
Is there a method to connect and use an absolute encoder on this type of controller?

The MDC2230 only has the ability to read the A/B signals from incremental quadrature encoders. It does currently have the ability for input from the index signal of an absolute encoder.
We do have two motor controllers (FBL2360 and SBL1360) that do have an input for the index signal of absolute encoders. This is a feature that will eventually be implemented in all of our motor controllers but is currently only available in those two.

Understood, I will Look into those or find a way to use a incremental encoder instead.
