Encoder CPR (cyc/rev) vs PPR (puls/rev) was created by kacox
I am using a EPC Model 260 encoder (10,000 cycles/rev). After getting clarification from EPC this equates to 40,000 quadrature transition states. The Roboteq motor controller utility wants the encoder resolution in pulses/rev (PPR). My understanding is that for my encoder this would be 10,000. The GUI seems to be limiting me to a value <= 5000. Is this correct?

The utilities menu trees do restrict the PPR to a max of 5000 but you can manually set your PPR to a higher value using the EPPR serial command. See this on page 316 of our user manual. After giving your ^EPPR configuration command you will need to send the command %eesav to save it to flash memory of the controller.
Keep in mind that, despite the controllers ability to process controllers with up to 1MHz pulse frequency (pg 55 of manual), these higher resolution encoders to not bode as well if you are planning to operate at very high speed. The processing can become overloaded and your feedback will be affected.
