Older SDC2130 PwrCtrl Configuration

I have an SDC2130 bought in Mar 2011 -- it's a bare PCB unlike the current generation of SDC2130. Concerning the use of the PwrCtrl header, the data sheet which came with it only shows a connection to ground to switch off the controller, with no connection to +V while it's powered on.

I'm interested to do that as this board is the test bed for an application with a more recent controller and I want to maintain communication with it if I switch off the main contactor.

On the other hand, the oldest version of the User Manual for the NxtGen controllers which I can find on my system (v1.2 dated May 2012) clearly shows the internals around PwrCtrl the same as the current version of the User Manual. This suggests that I could connect PwrCtrl to +V and keep it powered.

In the absence of more information I could of course just try it, but I'm reluctant to do so in case it causes any damage.

Is there any more information available?

cheers,
Richard

Hello Richard,

I spoke to you over email about this. After consulting with some of the engineers, the consensus was that nothing should have changed between hardware revisions of the SDC2130 regarding the Power Control wiring. Therefore, even though you purchased the SDC2130 in 2011, the current datasheet on our website should still be applicable. You should be able to use power control as an input for a backup battery source.

The documentation of the Power Control terminal in the SDC2130/SDC2150 Motor Controller Datasheet Version 1.2. November 19, 2010 is in error.

Sorry about all the confusion.
