Cant alter any settings, only defaults work

4 years 11 months ago #29534137 by roamingrobots
Hi All,

Bit of a strange issue on one ofour robots, Ive been using roboteQs for 16 years and never had this issue before.

I installed 2 x XDC2460S single channel controllers into our House Robot "Major Damage" earlier this year for the Extreme Robots live tour, swapping from the old 4QD300's, Ive got about 12 machines with Roboteqs and so wanted a commonality.

However when ever I try and alter any of the settings I lose RC control, and to get it back I have to plug it back into Roborun and restore the controller to the default settings.

I have tried slightly changing different settings, and it does the same as soon as I make any alteration it locks it out of RC control, ive tried 2 different laptops with the same latest version of roborun,

The robot has been running, but I need to change the acceleration and deceleration, which would normally be a 5 minute job.

I can ( using the same laptop ) change the settings in any of my other machines, including ones with the same controllers, but since I installed them its only these two that I haven't been able to do anything with.

I'm assuming its something simple that can be fixed, but its something I really need to solve.

Help wanted, and thanks in advance.

John

Can you clarify what you mean by RC control? Usually that refers to our pulse inputs.

Anyway, it certainly is odd that you seem to be locked out of changing any of the cotnroller settings, but it is a little bit unclear about what is going on. Are you not able to connect to them in Roborun+, or is the controller disconnecting when you press the save to controller button?

As in when the controllers are powered up, radio receiver and transmitter switched on, it just doesn't do anything. Reciever lights on, so I know the receiver is powered, but its as if its ignoring any input from the radio.

When I change any settings it acts as normal, connects, reads the configuration, I change the acceleration ramps, I save to the controller.
I go to drive the robot and it doesn't do anything, its ignoring the control.
So...
I pulg it back into the laptop, it reads the configuration, I click restore defaults, save to the controller, unplug, and then it can then be driven via the radio control.

All im trying to change is the acceleration / deceleration ramps, nothing too complex, but both controllers don't like it.

As I said ive got about 12 machines with roboteqs, and Ive always made the same change in a few minutes, ive gone to another machine with exactly the same controllers, plugged in, made the change, saved, and it works perfect. It appears to be something specific to these two controllers.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes, that sounds odd.

I think the easiest way for us to assist will be over a Team Viewer session so that we can see what is going on with your controller. Do you think you could send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that we can assist from there?
